How I Work

The Medicolegal Process

A clear, predictable workflow from first instruction to court attendance — with direct communication at every stage.

From Instruction to Testimony

The appointed solicitor sends an enquiry to medicolegal@ravipopat.com.
Mr Popat reviews the query received.
If accepted, Mr Popat's office emails the solicitor back with his T&Cs, a guide to report cost, and advises if any XRs / scans are required (and their costs).
When the solicitor returns signed T&Cs and all notes and records are received, they can request a date and confirm with the secretary.
An appointment is arranged by the secretary, then confirmed with solicitors and clients in writing.
The secretary arranges for appropriate questionnaires to be sent to the client and arranges XRs (which may need pre-payment by the solicitor).
The appointment takes place.
The report is typed and returned with an invoice within 2–4 weeks of the appointment.

What Instructing Solicitors Ask

Answers to the questions I'm most often asked when a new instruction is being considered.

How do I submit an instruction?+
You can instruct me by telephone, email, or through the enquiry form on the contact page. I personally review every enquiry and confirm whether I am able to accept the instruction, along with anticipated timescales and terms.
Do you accept claimant, defendant, and SJE instructions?+
Yes. I accept instructions from claimant and defendant solicitors, and I act as Single Joint Expert on behalf of both parties. My duty is always to the court, and every report is impartial and objective.
Where do examinations take place?+
Face-to-face examinations are conducted in Hertfordshire, with London consulting available on request. Please confirm your preferred location at the point of enquiry.
How long does a report take?+
Personal injury reports are dispatched promptly following examination and receipt of all relevant records. I maintain clear communication with instructing solicitors throughout the reporting process and will advise on timescales at the outset.
Are your reports CPR Part 35 compliant?+
Yes. Every report is prepared in full accordance with Civil Procedure Rules Part 35 and is structured to be relied upon in settlement negotiations and at trial.
Will you attend court if the case proceeds to trial?+
Yes. Where proceedings reach trial, I am available to give oral expert evidence and to withstand cross-examination at all court levels, including the High Court, as well as participating in experts' meetings and joint statements.
